Main Street Mount Vernon’s inaugural Christmas Festival extended and expanded the holiday celebration successfully, thanks to the many sponsors, volunteers, downtown businesses, and community participants! A special thanks to the Food for the Hungry Board Members for judging the window display contest and the Main Street Mount Vernon Board for judging the parade entries.
"Our family loved the changes made to the usual festivities," said Rachel Kessler, local priest of Harcourt Parish. "Having the activities spread out over a few days made it significantly easier for us to participate in everything we wanted. You could really feel the holiday cheer!”
The “Christmas in the Movies” Window Display Contest had many participants but only four different, coveted winner categories. Flowers for You at 22 E. Gambier Street was once again awarded the Best Overall Display.
Herald’s Appliances & Electronics at 121 South Main Street won Best in Theme and Crickets on South Main at 120 South Main Street took the Most Downtown Spirit, both for the second year in a row as well!
There were so many great windows, that there were 2 Judges’ Choice awarded to both Paul’s Flower Shop, located at 49 Public Square and Paragraphs at 229 South Main Street. These displays will be up through the holidays, so if you haven’t seen them yet you should definitely pay downtown a visit!
