How do I become a First Friday exhibitor?
There are two steps:
All applications for First Friday exhibitors must be received no later than two weeks prior to each event.
What restrictions or guidelines are there for exhibitors?
Please see the First Friday Exhibitor Application Form for details.
Can I walk around downtown and hand out flyers or coupons?
It is our preference that exhibitors remain at their tables during the event rather than walking amongst the crowd.
Please Note: NO political campaigning or petitions of any kind are permitted.
How big is my exhibitor space?
Each space is approximately 10’x10’. Most people set up a 6’ or 8’ table with a couple of chairs. Some choose to use a tent/canopy. The largest tent/canopy you may use is 10’x10’, which is a standard size. You must inform us in advance if you are using a tent or canopy. MSMV does NOT provide tables, chairs, canopies or tents for exhibitors.
How will I find my exhibitor space?
We will have a volunteer on the square during set-up time to direct you to your space. We try our best to give you the same space each month, but we cannot always guarantee this as our exhibitors may change monthly. Most exhibitors sign up in February or March to be there, so if you join us halfway through the summer, you may receive a less desirable location.
Do I need to provide my own table/chairs?
Yes. MSMV only provides tables and chairs for event goers who want to sit and watch the band.
When should I arrive to set up? What is the process?
We start closing off the streets and square at 4:00 pm. You can arrive anytime after that to set up. You may park around the square to unload your table/chairs. We ask that you then park on a side street as we use all the parking around the square for youth entertainment. You need to be set up and ready to go by 6:00 pm. The event runs until 9:00 pm, so you should remain at your exhibit that entire time. You may drive your car back to the square to load up at the end of the event.
What sort of things should I have for my exhibit?
We recommend visuals such as photos of your business, samples of your work, etc. It’s also beneficial to have small giveaway items such as pens, notepads, magnets, etc. A brochure, flyer and/or business cards are also helpful. Balloons, flags and banners are nice attention getters. You are not permitted to give away food or beverages (wrapped candy is an exception). Some businesses like to provide a service rather than just handing out information, for example: a baby changing station, face painting, or a small craft.
What happens if it rains?
We do not have a backup rain location for exhibitors (only for the band). If it is raining or threatening rain, we will make the call whether not to move the band indoors by 4:00 pm. Typically, we do not close the streets if it is raining. It is up to you to determine if you would still like to exhibit if it is raining.
